After we subjugate animals, what next? We try to subjugate each other. We wage wars. Brother fights against brother, each calling on God who they claim is on their side. Why are we so arrogant that we think God will involve himself in our petty wars? We need to remember that God does not need us to do anything. You see, if creation fails, God can always make a new one. On the other side, God cannot intervene directly, for it would mean taking back our freedom and destroying the whole purpose of creation. No, God is too powerful and powerless for that kind of action.

Yet, we go on, invoking others to our cause. We call ourselves powerful, yet we go on day after day, dreaming of machines that would make us even more powerful. We dream of superheroes and angels and demons. We think of villains and elves and magic. We try to search for meaning in our lives by destroying others’. We try to find our freedom by holding other creatures captive.
